EPISODE 63: ANGELA BARNES
Saturday Jun 04, 2022
Saturday Jun 04, 2022
In this episode, I talk to one of my favourite comedians ANGELA BARNES about her comedy career.
One of the UK’s very best comedians, since winning the BBC Radio 2 New Comedy Award in 2011, Barnes has not looked back. A regular on the comedy circuit and at festivals, her on-stage persona is blunt, no-nonsense, and hysterically funny. A familiar face and voice on radio and television, she is the host of Newsjack, been a guest host and panellist on The News Quiz and appeared on The Now Show all for BBC Radio 4. On television, her credits include Stand Up For The Week for Channel 4, As Yet Untitled with Alan Davies for Dave, Live At The Apollo and a regular guest on Mock The Week for the BBC. In 2020, she began co-hosting the podcast We are History with acclaimed author John O’Farrell.
I have watched Barnes live on many occurrences over the years including appearances at various Always Be Comedy showcases from 2016 to 2022, also at 99 Club Comedy, London in 2018, Headliners Comedy Club, London in 2019 and 2022 and her solo shows Fortitude in 2017 and Rose Tinted in 2018 both at the Edinburgh Fringe.
